Introduction to Tonsils

Tonsils, also known as palatine tonsils, are a built-in defense mechanism against germs entering the mouth, and from getting other kinds of infections. They reach their full size at the age of puberty.

So, Are There Tonsil Doctors?

When tonsils themselves get an infection, it is called tonsillitis. The question of whether to remove tonsils or not using tonsillectomy is one that is often discussed. Many doctors not in the specialty of ears, nose and throat, otherwise known as ENT, are not quick to recommend tonsillectomy. While there are no "tonsil doctors" that specialize only to tonsils, the ones in ENT are likely to do tonsillectomy.

Healing the Tonsils from Tonsillitis

My personal recommendation on this subject is to remove the tonsils using doctor procedures ONLY if 100% necessary. In other words, only if the symptoms are too much to handle. Quite often the infection DOES go away.

One of the reasons of tonsillitis not commonly talked about is eating too close to bed time. It is important not to eat within a few hours going to sleep. The reason for this is that your stomache needs time to digest the food. If you go to sleep, certain gases make their way back up your throat, causes various problems there, including problems with the tonsils.

The Conclusion To Quickly Heal the Tonsils

So, if you are a late eater, we suggest you change that and eat a few hours earlier. This will aid in healing the tonsils much quicker. Of course, you will not see instant results, but they will be evident after some time.
